Friedrich Johann Gottlieb songs
Friedrich Johann Gottlieb Lieder (born July 3, 1780 in Potsdam , † May 13, 1859 in Budapest ) was a German portrait painter and lithographer .
Life
Lieder began his career at the age of 17 when he took part in the Berlin Academy exhibition with two drawings in 1797 . In 1804 he went to Paris to study at the École des Beaux-Arts and became a student of Jacques-Louis David . In France, Lieder married a daughter of the Chevalier d'Ellevaux de Limon. In the following years the artist received commissions from the Hungarian nobility and stayed in Budapest , Pressburg and Tyrnau .
From 1812 he also worked in Vienna , where he achieved great success as a portraitist, especially during the Congress of Vienna . The art-loving Metternich also took a liking to songs and encouraged him by not only enabling him to stay in Verona , but also to learn the art of lithography in Paris. Since Lieder knew how to reproduce uniforms very precisely, he aroused the interest of Friedrich Wilhelm III on the occasion of a stay in Berlin . who appointed him court painter . After his stay in Berlin from 1816 to 1819, Lieder then alternated between Vienna and Budapest. In 1824 he became a member of the Vienna Academy .
In 1933 the Friedrich-Lieder-Weg in Vienna- Penzing (14th district) was named after him.
power
Lieders strength was the portrait, to which he devoted himself above all with academic accuracy. He created miniatures as well as watercolors and oil paintings , in which he aptly characterized the depicted personalities (mainly of the high nobility). In addition to depicting uniforms, he was also known for fashionable effects in his pictures. The rare original lithographs are also of good quality.
