The Torslanda Idrottsklubb is a Swedish sports club in Torslanda in the municipality of Gothenburg .

history

Torslanda IK was founded in 1944. In the 1950s, the departments for football , table tennis , handball and ice hockey were created , to which a gymnastics department was added at the end of the 1960s . In 1972 a bowling section was established before the club stopped playing ice hockey two years later. Two years later, the handball department split off as Tolereds AIK .

In 1987, the Torslanda IK soccer team was promoted to fifth class Division 4 and qualified for the Svenska Cup for the first time in the same year . After relegation in 1992, the season winner returned to the fifth division two years later. Again two years later, he was promoted to fourth-class Division 3 Nordvästra Götaland , where the season winner made it through to the third division. There the team narrowly missed the leap into the second division when the promotion games were not reached with one point behind runner-up IK Kongahälla as third in the table. A year later they placed themselves behind Norrby IF in second place in Division 2 Västra Götaland , but since the same year the second division of two groups was merged into one relay, the promotion round was omitted. Also in 2000 you were a victim of the process of concentration in the Swedish league system, when the relay victory succeeded, but instead of direct promotion you had to compete in a relegation round. There the team failed after two defeats at IFK Malmö .

In the following years Torslanda could not build on the successes and only placed in the middle of the table. In another league reform in Sweden after the 2005 season, the team again fell victim to the concentration process. After a fifth place in the table, the team had to compete in playoffs to qualify for the newly introduced third-class Division 1 . After significant defeats against Ängelholms FF and Myresjö IF , the club missed participation and had to compete in the now fourth-class Division 2 Västra Götaland . However, the season winner managed to return directly to the third division, where relegation was achieved in the first season with three points ahead of relegated Kristianstads FF . The following season ended the club together with Västra Frölunda IF and Ytterby IS on a relegation zone.
