The tug Torsten was built in 2012 by the Turkish shipyard Sanmar Ltd. delivered to Hans Schramm & Sohn. It is a versatile anchor pulling and multi-purpose tug with a large, free working deck. With its shallow draft, it is used close to the coast and offshore for assistance work in the construction of wind farms, as an anchor puller or as a cable laying escort ship.

history

The multi-purpose tug developed together with the engineering office NavConsult AWSS, a Schramm subsidiary, was ordered by Hans Schramm & Sohn in Turkey in 2010 and put into service in September 2012. In the summer of 2010, NavConsult AWSS started the design work. The experience gained by cable layer Nostag 10 during the assistance work was used and the required criteria (accommodation, sound level , daylight, waste water tanks) were incorporated into the design in order to use the new building under the German flag (BG Verkehr).

Ship description

The multi-purpose tractor was designed for 21 days of service and has been given appropriate storage tanks for fuel, drinking water, waste water, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil and sludge. Four trim / ballast tanks are used to compensate for trim and heel . The deck has various receptacles for containers, which are taken on board depending on the work order.

The tractor is driven by a conventional two-shaft system, consisting of two Caterpillar main engines of type 3512B with 1425 kW at 1650 rpm, which act on the fixed propellers with 4 blades via reversing gears . The stern tubes are seawater lubricated and cooled. Two auxiliary diesel engines with a nominal output of 245 kW each drive generators with a nominal output of 96 kW and supply the on- board electrical system . On the other hand, hydraulic pumps are driven that require 120 kW in nominal operation. The latter supply hydraulic units for the

  • combined towing and anchor winch, the
  • Board crane that
  • Overhaul winches and that
  • Bow thruster.

The main and auxiliary diesels are cooled on the fresh water side by means of box coolers and therefore do not require any sea cooling water pumps. The air-cooled emergency / harbor diesel generator has a nominal output of 40 kW.

The day fair is located on the main deck, the other rooms in the living area are located below the main deck and daylight enters this area via skylights.
