Torsten Evert Karsten

Torsten Evert Karsten also Tor Evert, Torsten E. Karsten (born August 20, 1870 in Orivesi , Finland ; † September 12, 1942 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish-Swedish German and Scandinavian Medievalist and linguist ( Old Germanist ).

Karsten studied at the University of Helsinki (Helsingfors), where he received his doctorate in 1897 and then worked as a lecturer. From 1912 he was Professor of German Philology , from 1931 of Nordic Philology at the University of Helsinki (Helsingfors).
