Torsten Hilse

Torsten Hilse (born February 12, 1955 in Zittau ) is a former German politician ( SPD ) and publisher. From 1990 to 2011 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives .

Life

Torsten Hilse, son of the independent master car painter Heinz Hilse, attended the polytechnic high school in his hometown and began an apprenticeship as a printer in 1971 in the Zittau graphic workshops. After passing the journeyman's examination, Hilse obtained the Abitur between 1973 and 1975 in an evening school course. From 1978 to 1981 Hilse studied printing technology at the engineering school for polygraphy in Leipzig. The Dipl.-Ing. (FH) took on a department head function in the large graphic company Völkerfreundschaft (Zentrag), Werkstätten Görlitz-Zittau, and later became production manager there. Since 1981 Hilse and his brother-in-law Lothar Alisch have been involved in the Christian peace movement of the GDR and became a member of the Zittau church council.

In 1987 Hilse began his professional activity as a production manager at the Evangelische Verlagsanstalt in East Berlin and moved from Zittau to Pankow . On October 7, 1989 in Schwante he was one of the founding members of the Social Democratic Party in the GDR . Between 1990 and 1995 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives for the first time . From October 1990 to March 2017 he was a member of the SPD and until 2006 deputy district chairman of the party in Pankow.

In 1991 Hilse founded verbum Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft mbH in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg . In 2001 he was re-elected to the House of Representatives, but did not run for the 2011 election. He is particularly interested in the protection and promotion of the German language, and he is committed to its inclusion as a state goal in the Berlin constitution .

Torsten Hilse is a Protestant Lutheran and was a member of the district church council and the Pankow district synod. He is a member of the German Language Association and was a member of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt and the Foundation Council of the Berlin Philharmonic . Hilse has been married since 1979 and has three sons and a daughter.

Hilse is the managing partner of verbum GmbH. Together with Dieter Winkler, he is the editor of the series Drawer Texts from the GDR .
