Torsten Laen (born November 26, 1979 in Odense , Denmark ) is a former Danish handball player . He is 1.98 m tall.

Laen, who u. a. played for the Füchse Berlin and ran for the Danish national team, was actually always used as a circle runner.

Career

Torsten Laen was discovered in 1999 when he was still playing on the handball team at Odense University and was signed by the Danish top club GOG Gudme Svendborg . Initially, Laen remained enrolled at the university and graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports, only then did he concentrate fully on professional handball.

With Gudme he won the Danish championship in 2000, 2004 and 2007 and the Danish Cup in 2002, 2003 and 2005. In 2007 he joined the Spanish top club BM Ciudad Real . With Ciudad Real he won the Spanish championship, the Spanish Cup, the Spanish Supercup, the Copa ASOBAL and the EHF Champions League in 2008 . In 2009 he won the championship and the EHF Champions League again with Ciudad Real. From 2009 to 2013 Torsten Laen played for the Füchse Berlin in the handball Bundesliga . Laen's greatest success with the Füchsen was the entry into the Final Four of the Champions League 2012. He then moved to the Danish first division club KIF Kolding. With KIF he won the championship in 2014 and 2015. In summer 2016 he returned to GOG Håndbold. He ended his career after the 2017/18 season.

Torsten Laen played 152 international matches for the Danish national team . At the European Championship (EM) 2002 and the EM 2004 he won the bronze medal with Denmark . At the 2007 World Cup in Germany, he was only part of the extended line-up of the Danes.
