Torsten Heiko Staffeldt (born February 7, 1963 in Bremen ) is a German mechanical engineer and politician ( FDP ). From 2009 to 2013 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

biography

education and profession

After attending school at the Leibnizplatz grammar school in Bremen, Staffeldt completed an apprenticeship as a ship mechanic on medium and long voyages. He then drove on a long journey as a candidate technical officer . He then worked as an NC lathe operator and studied mechanical engineering at the University of Bremen . He found his first job as a project engineer in the food industry. From 1993 to 1998 he was head of development, design and mechanical production at the Center for Applied Space Technology and Microgravity ( Drop Tower Bremen ) at the University of Bremen . For his work during the practical semester, he received the ZARM award for young scientists in 1992.

In 1998 he started his own business. He and his companies are active in energy efficiency consulting. He specializes in energy savings in industrial compressed air systems. His company was involved in the compressed air efficiency campaign of the BMWi and the German Energy Agency DEnA. Staffeldt is an accredited energy efficiency consultant for the KFW banking group. From 2007 to 2012 he was an elected member of the plenary session of the Bremen Chamber of Commerce . There he is still active on the industry committee.

Staffeldt is the father of four children.

In 2005 Staffeldt joined the FDP. Here he held the post of deputy state chairman in 2010/11. From 2010 to 2014 he was chairman of the Bremen East district association and from 2006 to 2013 chairman of the state committee for economics, finance and transport. Furthermore, Staffeldt was deputy chairman of the liberal middle class at federal level from 2011 to 2013 and was treasurer of the liberal middle class in Bremen, whose chairman he was from 2007 to 2011.

In the federal election , he ran as a top candidate on the state list of the FDP Bremen and constituency candidate for constituency 55 (Bremen city) . From September 2009 to October 2013 he was a member of the German Bundestag . In the Bundestag Staffeldt belonged to the Committee for Transport, Building and Urban Development. For the FDP parliamentary group he was the rapporteur for shipping and ports, aerospace and cycling. In 2010, he and the other parliamentary groups in the Bundestag reconstituted the inland shipping parliamentary group, of which he was the coordinating spokesman. From 2011 to 2013 he was a deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Group on Aerospace. In the Bundestag, Staffeldt was a member of the board as secretary.

For the federal election , Staffeldt was set up as the top candidate in the state list of the FDP Bremen and as a constituency candidate for constituency 55 (Bremen city). Like the entire FDP, he failed at the five percent hurdle and was not re-elected as a member of the 18th Bundestag .

Honorary positions: Advisory board member of the "Schifffahrtsstandort Deutschland" foundation. Advisory board member of the Reunion of the Navy. Member of the supervisory board of WVS GmbH, Federal Association of the Water Sports Industry eV In addition to his entrepreneurial and political activities, Staffeldt is active in church committees and on a voluntary basis in Bremen.
