Cake instead of words is the sixth studio album by the Austrian punk rock band Drahdiwaberl . It was released in 2000 under the then label Intonation .

production

Since the band has been without a record deal since 1995, they decided to release the album with the Intonation label . After the collapse of this label, the production went back to the band.

After a few failures in recent years, Drahdiwaberl set to work in a positive mood.

The album is a supplement to the Austrian Thursday demo , quasi the answer to the then blue / black government in Austria. Stefan Weber only wanted to use hard numbers for this album, which he did. Torte instead of words is musically the band's toughest album, the riffs are partly reminiscent of Rammstein and have distinctive features of the Neue Deutsche Hütze . So old numbers by Drahdiwaberl were re-released on this album, for example Berserker was re-recorded and some text passages were added. The song Bussibär , which so far could only be heard on the live album Wer hat Pfui schrien here , was recorded in the studio and pressed onto this record. To top it all off, the Rammstein song Bück dich was covered.

The content of the album is also about racism and the government situation in Austria at the time .

Pie instead of words, like its predecessor Sperminator, is out of print .

Closing ranks

On the track list of the album is the eleventh piece nor the title solidarity listed. The song represents an "extreme" satire about the Nazi-friendly attitude of Austria. Austrian politicians, especially Jörg Haider , came into the sights of the song. But since the FPÖ had threatened lawsuits before the album was released , the band decided not to put the song on the album. The song was officially never published, but unofficially it was available for download on the Drahdiwaberl homepage.
