Werwolf Romanticism is the third studio album by the Austrian punk rock band Drahdiwaberl . It was produced by Robert Ponger and is the band's most successful album to date.

production

After their second album, the band switched to producer Robert Ponger , who had already produced successful records for Falco . The album was recorded in February / March 1983 in the Stereo West Studio.

During the production of the album, Stefan Weber played a guest part in an episode of the famous Austrian series Kottan determined and got to know the main actor Lukas Resetarits better. Stefan Weber wanted to record a song for the new album with Lukas Resetarits, who agreed and so they set about recording the duet Lonely . The former bassist Falco also contributed a song to the album: The Galley .

success

Stefan Weber and Robert Ponger decided to release the song Lonely together with Lukas Resetarits as a pre-release, because from the producer's point of view it had "mass potential" - which was confirmed by the subsequent chart positions: The song landed on place in the second week 1 on the Ö3 hit parade and the single at number 4 on the Media Control sales charts in Austria. Stefan Weber himself saw the success of the single as an embarrassing slip .

Shortly after the single was released, the album also found its way into the public eye, and the success of the single made the album high in the charts, climbing to number 7 and staying in the top 20 for 16 weeks.

In Germany, the album, like its predecessors, was released under the Teldec label.

The second single was the song Plöschberger , which is about the desperation of Austrian teachers with bad students in view of the new school law . Although the single was played very often on the radio and the band brought further placements in the Ö3 hit parade, the single was not commercially successful.

With the release of the third single Die Galeere , which was still sung by Falco, the band tried another chart entry into the sales charts, but this failed.

Lyrically, many fans see Werwolf romance as the best Drahdiwaberl album, even if the album only specialized in rock.
