Tosca (perfume)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tosca is a perfume that was developed by Muelhens GmbH & Co.KG in 1921 and is now manufactured and sold by Mäurer & Wirtz GmbH & Co. KG (including 4711 ). The target group of the fragrance should be "women over 50".

The mark

The brand was sold to Wella AG in 1994 as part of the sale of Muelhens GmbH & Co.KG , which in turn was taken over by Procter & Gamble in 2003 . In 2007 Procter & Gamble sold the brand together with 4711, Sir Irisch Moos and Extase to Mäurer & Wirtz , whereupon a new bottle design was introduced in 2008 . Along with 4711, Tosca is one of the most traditional fragrance brands in Germany. In the 1970s, the brand advertised with the claim : "With Tosca came tenderness", which was later replaced by "Timeless Elegance".

The perfume

The history

The Tosca perfume was launched in 1921 and came on the market at the same time as Chanel Nº 5 . Both owed their composition to a number of newly discovered aldehydes , i. H. organic compounds formed by the oxidation of alcohols , and both have been equally successful. Alongside Chanel Nº 5, Tosca became the best-selling perfume in the world. The name is a homage to the opera of the same name by Giacomo Puccini ; The fragrance sets the first accent to a new trend of fantasy fragrances, which replaced the floral fragrances such as violets, rose etc. that were so popular around 1900. To this day, nothing has changed in the 90-year-old recipe.

The smell

The design

The bottle is teardrop-shaped with a gemstone-cut look. The cap and the lettering are gold.
