Mommy Market - In Search of the Dream Mother is an American fantasy film based on a children's book by the author Nancy Brelis. Her daughter Tia Brelis wrote the script and directed. The family film was released on May 13, 1994 in US cinemas.
action
The siblings Jeremy, Elizabeth and Harry are fed up with being treated unfairly by their mother. On the way to school they pass the garden of nice old Mrs. Cavour, who tells them about Mommy Market , a market place where children can choose their mothers themselves.
They go there immediately. Her choice falls on a cigarette-smoking diva - Elizabeth is taken with her. On arrival at home, she throws toys lying around in the trash, even though the children are hanging on them. Elizabeth, Jeremy and Harry get dresses and hairstyles from the previous century. In addition, the new mother served them an unsavory meal on the first evening. They decide to disgust the posh lady out of the house by putting her Harry's iguana in bed. She had clearly expressed her dislike for the animal by screeching upon arrival.
Since the three siblings have two more attempts, they go to the Mommy Market one more time . This time Jeremy can choose a new mother. Time is of the essence, as the school principal comes to the Martins' house every morning to speak to the mother of the three about their alleged misconduct. Jeremy chooses a girl scout. But it is not perfect either. She wakes up the children in the early hours of the morning for an exhausting excursion, interferes in the children's games and thus pisses off their friends. The children ask the Girl Scout to go again.
On the third and last attempt, little Harry gets the opportunity to choose a mother at the Mommy Market . It should be a circus artist named Natascha. However, she brings the entire circus staff with her. A giant with superpowers breaks Harry's BMX bike with his bare hands, which of course makes Harry sad. The house gets too turbulent for the three children. To lure the group out of the house, Jeremy and Harry unceremoniously kidnap the tour bus. They unintentionally wreck it. Natascha mourns the bus and leaves the family. Now the children stand there without a mother and consult. They remember the good times with their birth mother and realize that they only experienced real love from her. They very much want their mother back and go to sleep. When they wake up the next morning, she is actually in her bed.
