The Trafexpress class is a series of ConRo ships of the type Stocznia Szczecińska B-201 . The ships are operated by the Dutch Spliethoff Group under the Dutch flag and used by the subsidiary Transfennica .
history
Even before the takeover by Spliethoff, Transfennica had started planning to build a new series of RoRo ships. After the takeover, a significantly modified Spliethoff design was implemented. The ship sextet was built between 2005 and 2009 by the Stocznia Szczecińska Nowa shipyard in Stettin.
Technical data and equipment
The ships are measured with around 28,300 GT and have a deadweight of 18,250 tons. The superstructures are located in the rear third of the ships. The foredeck is provided with weather protection that merges into a breakwater.
Loading space arrangement
The ships can transport both containers and rolling cargo. For the transport of containers, the six sister ships each have four compartments equipped with Cellguides in the front cargo hold without hatch cover , which holds 192 TEU, the weather deck area behind the deckhouse, which is also equipped with Cellguides, where 150 TEU can be stowed, and the middle weather deck area, the further 297 TEU can accommodate. The cell guides for the weather deck area behind the superstructure are not permanently installed. If necessary, they can also be removed and carried in the aft area of the deck so that other cargo can be stowed here in addition to containers.
Below deck, the ships have roll decks with 2950 gauge meters , which can be reached via a stern ramp that extends over the entire width of the ship . If necessary, the weather deck can also be reached via another ramp on the port side and also loaded with trailers and / or containers.
Machine system
The drive consists of two medium-speed four - stroke diesel engines from the manufacturer Wärtsilä, each with an output of 12,600 kW , which enable a speed of almost 23 knots .
In 2012 the Plyca was initially equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system from Alfa Laval . After a trial period of around one year, the shipping company decided to retrofit the remaining five ships with this system. In 2014, the Timca was retrofitted with an exhaust gas cleaning system at MWB .
The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by two bow thrusters . The ship type is classified by Lloyd's Register of Shipping and, thanks to the Finnish / Swedish 1A ice class, can also operate in ice. There are ship stabilizers installed.
