Transfennica is a Finnish shipping company that operates in large parts of Europe.

history

Transfennica was founded in 1980 and initially only sailed with one ship, the Karelia . In the following years the number of ships and routes increased steadily until Transfennica 2000 served the North and Baltic Sea region with a total of 16 ships .

In 2002 Transfennica was taken over by the Dutch Spliethoff Group . A year later, the Stena Forecaster and Stena Forerunner were chartered by Stena RoRo.

In cooperation with the Spliethoff Group, six new ConRo ships were then developed and built, the ships of the Trafexpress class . With a length of over 200 m and a maximum speed of 23 knots, the ships are suitable for both short and long routes and are specially designed for passages through the Kiel Canal .
