The Transgourmet Holding AG is a 2008 based wholesale company based in Basel , which the Coop Group belongs. With over 24,000 employees and a turnover of around 7.5 billion Swiss francs (2015), Transgourmet Holding AG is the second largest company in this business area in Europe (after Metro Cash & Carry ).

history

The company was founded in 2008 by the trading groups Rewe (Germany) and Coop (Switzerland) as a joint venture , but has been fully owned by Coop since January 2011. The international activities of the two corporate groups in cash & carry and wholesale delivery were originally combined in Transgourmet . Rewe and Coop each had a 50% stake in the company. The purpose of the joint venture was the expansion of both groups in the markets of Central Europe (especially France) and Eastern Europe.

The activities of the Selgros Group (second largest cash & carry provider in Germany), Transgourmet Deutschland (market leader of German bulk consumer delivery services) and Transgourmet Schweiz AG (see below) with their subsidiaries have been brought under the umbrella of Transgourmet Holding AG Prodega / Growa CC (Swiss market leader in wholesale delivery ), Howeg (Swiss market leader in wholesale delivery) and Transgourmet France (French market leader in wholesale delivery) were brought in.

Back in 2005, the two corporate groups had founded the joint venture Transgourmet Schweiz AG , each with a 50% stake , into which Rewe contributed the companies Prodega CC , Growa CC , Howeg and the Aldis Service Plus group (wholesale supply of food and hygiene supplies in France) , from Coop the company Bell Gastro Service . In 2005, Transgourmet Schweiz AG took over the companies Prodirest SNC (wholesale supply of food and hygiene products in France), SA Discol (holding company in the food industry) and Goninet SNC (food and drugstore retail). In 2008, Transgourmet Schweiz AG and its subsidiaries became part of Transgourmet Holding AG.

On November 3, 2010, the Rewe Group and Coop announced that as of January 10, 2011, Coop would take over the 50% stake in the Rewe Group as the sole shareholder in the future.

2015 took over Transgourmet on OHG Transgourmet which specializes in supplying cruise ships, hotel chains and international caterers company Sump & Stammer, the wholesaler of dairy products TEC Unna AG, the Oetker , the Corporation is represented in Germany and Austria FrischeParadies group and from the Austrian Pfeiffer trade GmbH the wholesale division C + C Pfeiffer , which has been run as Transgourmet Austria since 2016 . Luigi Zanini Sr. and Luigi Zanini jr. are the owners of the wine trading company Zanini SA and the wine production company Vinattieri Ticinesi SA. The business activities of these companies will be transferred to the newly founded Zanini Vinattieri SA, a subsidiary of Transgourmet, on January 5, 2018.

At the beginning of 2019 it was announced that Transgourmet would take over the Emmi subsidiary Emmi Frisch-Service AG , subject to the approval of the competition commission .
