Duranillin is a locality in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia . It is located 15 miles south of Darkan , near the confluence of the Arthur and Beaufort Rivers .
history
The word duranillin is derived from the Aboriginal language of the native Australians and its meaning is unknown. The place was founded in 1916 during the extension of the railway line from Collie to Wagin . In 1918 duranillin was announced.
The first building was a shop that was expanded by Lewis Hibble. Until 1968 the railway line was the most important employer in town. A sawmill run by the Hughes family employed three or four families. It was silent in the 1960s.

Duranillin is 223 kilometers from Perth , 84 kilometers from Wagin, and 84 kilometers from Collie. 70 people live in Duranillin (2016).
To the south of the city is the Towerrinningsee, which is the most important attraction in the area. It has an area of 256 hectares .
Present duranillin
Nowadays, Duranillin is a place with a post office and a shop. It functions as a trading post and meeting point for the local rural community. Local events take place regularly. A small winery is located near the village.
