The Transmashholding ( Russian Трансмашхолдинг ; English Transmashholding ) is a Russian engineering company and the largest manufacturer of railway vehicles in the country. It was formed in 2002 through the merger of several plants in different regions of the country.
General
The Moscow-based holding is a stock corporation whose majority stake is nominally owned by the Dutch investment company The Breakers Investments B.V. , which in turn is controlled by the Russian hard coal mining company Kuzbassrasresugol ( Кузбассразрезуголь ) and the transport company TransGroup . Since December 2007, the Russian State Railways has also held a 25 percent package of the investment company, and in March 2010 a package of 25% plus one share of The Breakers Investment was sold to the French railroad manufacturer Alstom , with which a joint development and production of trains and locomotives for the Russian market is planned.
TMH Argentina was founded in Argentina in 2017 and took over a maintenance facility in Mechita, Buenos Aires Province. This is where the maintenance and construction of new railway vehicles will take place.
Transmashholding is the largest manufacturer of electric locomotives , diesel locomotives and electrically operated passenger trains in Russia . In addition, plants belonging to Transmashholding produce goods and industrial cars, diesel engines and subway cars. The main buyer of TMH production is the co-owner of the Russian State Railways; Today the local trains are mostly produced by the TMH machine works Demichowo, which after the collapse of the Soviet Union took over the largest market share in Russia in this segment instead of the Riga wagon factory . In addition, all subway vehicles for the Moscow Metro and for some other subway companies in Russia are produced by the Metrowagonmasch plant, which is also part of the Transmashholding.
