Transparency price
The Transparency Prize is an award that PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Germany has been awarding since 2005 to German donation organizations that provide their donors with exemplary information about goals, activities, their internal structures and the use of their funds. The prize is advertised publicly and is endowed with EUR 30,000. The basis for the award is the analysis of the publicly available reports of the participating organizations. The information is evaluated using a catalog of criteria that PwC developed together with the Georg-August University of Göttingen . With the award, PwC wants to contribute to the "improvement of the information policy" of non-profit organizations. The first three places will be awarded prizes between 5 and 15 thousand euros. The Transparency Prize has been awarded every two years since 2010.
In contrast to the transparency price, the transparency check is neither a competition nor an audit, but a self-test for organizations. It is based on a set of questions, the answers of which provide important information for the organizations' interest groups. The transparency check primarily helps smaller non-profit organizations. The transparency check is more than a self-test - the catalog of questions also represents the structure for reporting. Individual answers to the questions create the rough version of the report. Organizations of all sizes receive concrete support with regard to the required information and a proposal to structure it. The transparency check is freely accessible and is open to all interested organizations for free and anonymous self-assessment and use.
