Valentin Traudt

Valentin Traudt (born July 23, 1864 in Fulda ; † March 15, 1950 in Flechtdorf ) was a German teacher , writer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Traudt was born the son of a railroad worker. After graduating from primary school in Hanau in 1878 , he attended the preparatory institute in Schlüchtern , where he also graduated from the teachers' seminar in 1884 . From 1885 he worked as a primary school teacher in Rauschenberg , switched to a Kassel primary school in July 1902 and later became vice principal there. In 1929 he retired. In addition to his professional activity, he worked as a writer and wrote works of fiction such as novels and local poems. He was also a co-founder and private teacher at the Fröbelseminar in Kassel, an evangelical church training center.

Traudt joined the SPD. From 1919 to 1925 he was a city councilor and from 1925 to 1929 an unpaid city councilor in Kassel. In the Reichstag election in 1920 , he ran unsuccessfully for the Reichstag . Four years later, in December 1924, he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, of which he was a member until 1932. In parliament he represented constituency 19 (Hessen-Nassau).

He lived in Flechtdorf since 1943, where he died in 1950.

Honors

The Valentin-Traudt School Großalmerode was named after him, as is the Valentin-Traudt school in the district Rothenditmold in Kassel .
