Traunricht is located in the Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park . The Naab flows on the outskirts . To the west of the A 93 and the Naab is Schwarzenfeld. Between Miesberg and Traunrichter Berg (name of the Traunricht district) lies the Naab breakthrough with the Naabinsel, opposite the mouth of the Schwarzach crossed by the A 93 .

The federal motorway 93 runs west of the village . The Schwarzenfeld motorway exit is located there . State road 2151 runs through the town. Regionalbus Ostbayern GmbH (RBO) provides public transport with bus line 6275, which runs from Weiden via Nabburg to Schwandorf .
