Look into the source of the journey
The Tour Chapel became a memorial for the victims of euthanasia in 1985

The Treise is a short tributary of the Wester . It rises at the foot of the Oberhagens . With the exception of the spring basin, the entire course of the brook is now piped, so it flows invisibly into the west.

The journey is documented for the first time on November 23, 1483: Katherine, widow of the Goswin Lurwaldes, resident of Rüthen , sells an acre of land to the Galilee Monastery (formerly Hukenhem), and comes across the Salten Borne (the salt pork in Warstein) (...) one Half of their meadow down on the "Treyse". The depiction of the journey on a map from around 1630 is particularly interesting. In the original of the map, the journey arises from a tunnel mouth hole . In the Oberhagens area, there has been intensive iron mining since at least the Middle Ages. It is possible that the Treisquelle is not a natural source, but a medieval pit drainage.

When the Warsteiner Eisenhütte was built at the foot of the Oberhagen in 1739 (as the successor to earlier ironworks that were difficult to grasp at this point) there was no longer any free water gradient on the course of the Wester for the installation of water wheels. The operator of the ironworks therefore used the water from the river to operate his hydropower plant. Although the source of the Treise does not pour so heavily, there is a relatively large gradient. In addition, the water was dammed in a hut pond at a high altitude. Since the entire course of the trip lay on the site of the ironworks, the trip was artificially conducted very early and finally completely piped.

The spring water of the Treise is approx. 13 ° C warm, i.e. around 5 ° C warmer than would be expected in the Warsteiner area from near-surface groundwater . The salt content of approx. 100 mg / l is also significantly higher than would be expected for groundwater with little surface area. This indicates that the spring water of the trip must flow from a greater depth. It may rise along the fault, which is also responsible for the mineralization in Oberhagen .

On the premises of the Warstein LWL Clinic , the Treise Chapel is a memorial for the victims of euthanasia.
