Trenton is part of the metropolitan area of Chattanooga, Tennessee . In April 2011, the city was badly damaged by a hurricane. The ethnic composition was 98.09% White, 0.26% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 0.05% from the Pacific Islands.

In 2001, Trenton caused a sensation in the USA with two decisions: on the one hand, the controversial state flag of Georgia , which was flown between 1956 and 2001, was adopted as the flag of the city of Trenton immediately after its abolition, on the other hand, a pillar with the Ten Commandments was set up in the city administration . The city flag now includes the flag of the Confederate States of America .
