The Treves Butte is a striking, partly icy and 2100 m high witness mountain in the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . In the Ohio Range of the Horlick Mountains looms immediately northwest of Discovery Ridge .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1962 after the geologist Samuel B. Treves of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln , who was active in several campaigns in Antarctica , including investigations in the Ohio Range and others between 1960 and 1961 and 1961 to 1962 Sections of the Horlick Mountains.
