Trigger Inc. ( Japanese 株式会社 ト リ ガ ー Kabushiki kaisha Torigā ), also known as Studio Trigger , is a Japanese animation studio founded in August 2011 by former Gainax employees Hiroyuki Imaishi and Masahiko Ōtsuka.

history

Trigger was founded by Hiroyuki Imaishi and Masahiko Ōtsuka on August 22, 2011 shortly after they left Gainax . The name and the official website were revealed in October 2011. While assisting with various series, Trigger released the short film Little Witch Academia , and developed the first original anime series, Kill la Kill , which was released from October 2013 to March 2014. On July 8, 2013, Trigger started a crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform to raise money for a second implementation of Little Witch Academia . The campaign was  successful for $ 150,000 in under 5 hours, reaching $ 625,518 in the end. On October 9, 2015, Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, the second short film, was released.

Trigger is part of the holding company Ultra Super Pictures together with Sanzigen and Ordet and Liden Films .

In July 2018, Trigger started a crowdfunding campaign on the Patreon platform .
