Trịnh Thị Ngọ

Trịnh Thị NGO (* 1928 / 29 or 1931 ; † thirtieth September 2016 (according to other sources 2. October 2016) in Ho Chi Minh City ) moderated during the Vietnam War under the pseudonym Thu Hương (dt .: autumn scent) a Propaganda broadcast on the Vietnamese radio Voice of Vietnam . The Americans gave her the name Hanoi Hannah .

The North Vietnamese Trịnh Thị Ngọ took English lessons in her youth and was particularly interested in films that were shown with French subtitles . From 1955 she worked for the radio station Voice of Vietnam .

Her propaganda broadcast, which was broadcast three times a day, was aimed at US units in Vietnam. Trịnh Thị Ngọ read lists of fallen and prisoners , tried to convince the troops of the illegality of the war and to persuade them to give up the fight. In addition, she played popular music of the time and announced news from the USA, especially about the anti-war demonstrations . She gained greater fame through interviews with Jane Fonda . Trịnh Thị Ngọ hosted the show from 1965 to 1972.

She lived in Ho Chi Minh City with her husband and had a son and a daughter.
