Trio Töykeät

The Trio Töykeät is one of the most famous Finnish jazz formations.

It was founded in Helsinki in 1988 by Iiro Rantala. The music ranges from ragtime to soulful waltzes . The style of the Trio Töykeät is often very rhythmic, energetic and virtuoso. The trio has won numerous Finnish and international music awards. In April 2008, Iiro Rantala announced the breakup of the group.

Members

  • Iiro Rantala (piano, * 1970 in Sipoo ), studied jazz at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He also studied at the Manhattan School of Music from 1991 to 1993 . In addition to the Töykeät Trio, he plays with symphony orchestras and works as a composer.
  • Rami Eskelinen (drums, * 1967) and
  • Eerik Siikasaari (bass, * 1957) studied both at the Oulunkylä Jazz Conservatory and at the Sibelius Academy. You teach music in Espoo and you work in the Espoo Big Band .
