Tristane Banon
Tristane Banon (born June 13, 1979 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a French author and journalist .
Life
Tristane Banon is the daughter of General Council members Anne Mansouret and Gabriel Banon , former advisers to Georges Pompidou and Jassir Arafat . She is a goddaughter of Brigitte Guillemette, the second wife of Dominique Strauss-Kahn .
Tristane Banon graduated from the Grande école École supérieure de journalisme de Paris and then worked for the Paris Match magazine and the daily newspaper Le Figaro, among others . She has published several books, her first, Erreurs avouées… (au masculin) , deals with the misconduct of politicians. In addition to this essay, she published a non-fiction book on the death of Marie Trintignant and two volumes of prose.
Allegations against Dominique Strauss-Kahn
In May 2011, Banon announced that it was filing criminal charges against Dominique Strauss-Kahn for attempted rape . She had already made this accusation in February 2007 during a television broadcast in which she described the events from 2003. Although the name Strauss-Kahns was replaced by a beep when it was broadcast, his name became known as a result. Strauss-Kahn commented on this incident in the biography Le roman vrai de Dominique Strauss-Kahn (“The true story of Dominique Strauss-Kahn”) by Michel Taubmann . After receiving the complaint, the public prosecutor's office in Paris initiated preliminary investigations against Strauss-Kahn on July 8, 2011. Strauss-Kahn denied the allegations and charged Banon with false charges . On October 13, 2011, the preliminary investigations were closed. According to the public prosecutor's office, there was no attempted rape, but only a "sexual assault", which is already time barred. Her latest book, Le bal des hypocrites ( Dance Ball of the Hypocrites ), was published on the same day , in which she describes her view of the incident. A few days later, Banon announced that it would not bring any civil proceedings against Strauss-Kahn.
