The 48th Trofeo Laigueglia took place on February 19, 2011. It was part of the UCI Europe Tour 2011 and within this category 1.1. It took place in the province of Savona in Italy . The total distance of the bike race was 183.8 kilometers.

Participants and course of the race

With Liquigas-Cannondale , the Katusha Team , Ag2r La Mondiale , Lampre-ISD and the BMC Racing Team , five ProTeams were at the start. There were also ten Professional Continental Teams - including all Italian teams with this license - and four Continental teams , including the Austrian team Vorarlberg , and the small Italian team Ora Hotels . Three Germans, three Austrians and three Swiss were nominated.

The route led the field from the start in the small town of Laigueglia along the coast to the south, before the route ran into the interior of the province of Savona and then north. After an additional loop, the way back south followed along the coastline back to Laigueglia. A total of four quite short climbs were climbed, but the way to the goal was flat. A few kilometers before the end, a ten-man top group pulled away from the rest of the field and won the race among themselves. In the sprint, Daniele Pietropolli from Lampre-ISD was unbeatable, who a few weeks earlier had already won the Italian season opener at the Giro della Provincia di Reggio Calabria .
