Simone Ponzi (born January 17, 1987 in Manerbio ) is a former Italian cyclist .
Athletic career
In 2007 Simone Ponzi was the Italian U23 road champion, in 2008 he won a stage of the Giro della Valle d'Aosta . At the end of the 2008 season he received a contract initially as a stagiaire with the UCI ProTeam Lampre-NGC. In 2008 he was U23 vice European champion in road racing.
In 2011 Ponzi won the Gran Premio Nobili Rubinetterie and the Grand Prix Kranj . In 2014 he won the GP Costa degli Etruschi , the Dwars door Drenthe race and again the Gran Premio Nobili Rubinetterie . In 2015 he finished second behind Alexander Kristoff at the Bretagne Classic - Ouest-France .
In December 2018, Ponzi was still without a contract for the upcoming season and he decided to end his playing career. At the Giro d'Italia 2019 he was used to look after guests of honor.
