Tropical (Greek car brand)

Tropical SA is a Greek manufacturer of vehicles from Athens . Small cars, scooters and hydrogen drives for buses and generators are produced.

history

The company was founded in 1976 under the name Alfa as a body construction company that manufactured buses on behalf of ELBO . With the end of bus production, the company planned to use the freed-up capacities to manufacture a small car, which was not done due to the low demand. The company was renamed Tropical and from 1991 focused on the development and production of systems for alternative drives. In November 2007, the first wind-powered hydrogen filling station was presented . In January 2008, Bill Gates recognized the company for its hydrogen vehicles. In the same year, a new compact car was presented that used parts of the Smart Fortwo .
