Trude Kolman

Trude Kolman (born September 15, 1904 in Nuremberg , † December 30, 1969 in Munich ; born Gertrude Kohlmann) was a German actress , cabaret artist , director and theater director .

Life

After training as a book and art dealer, she took acting lessons from Tilla Durieux . Since 1920 she appeared as a diseuse and cabaret artist in various Berlin cabarets , for example in 1928 at Rosa Valetti's “Larifari” and in 1931 at the “ Katakombe ”. In Toller / Hasenclever's revue Bourgeois stays Bourgeois she took part in the premiere in the Lessing Theater on February 12, 1929 . She also took on film roles.

In 1932 she opened her own cabaret "Casanova", in 1935 she took over the " Tingel-Tangel-Theater " founded by the emigrated Friedrich Hollaender , which had to be closed on May 10, 1935 for political reasons. In the same year Kolman emigrated to Vienna.

Here she founded her own cabaret, including “The Sixth Heaven”. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, she emigrated to Prague and stayed in London and Zurich. In 1939 she settled in Great Britain, where she ran a guesthouse in Loxwood until 1949 .

In 1950 she returned to Germany. On January 25, 1951, she opened the cabaret “ Die Kleine Freiheit ” in Munich. The most important author of the cabaret was Erich Kästner , Kolman worked as a director and actress and made a significant contribution to the development of Munich's post-war cabaret .

From 1961 she turned to the boulevard theater and turned cabaret into pure theater. She also staged on other Munich theaters, for example on March 5, 1967, the world premiere of Mischa Spoliansky's How does one learn love at the Cuvilliés Theater .
