Trude Schelling-Karrer

Trude Schelling-Karrer (born May 6, 1919 ; † June 7, 2009 in Karlsruhe ) was a German set designer and interior designer.

Career

She initially worked as a set designer, later as an exhibition designer and interior designer. The projects she has implemented include the redesign of the auditorium of the Thalia Theater in Hamburg (1980) and the Berlin Schiller Theater (1981). In addition, she was an advisory employee of her husband, the architect Erich Schelling (1904–1986).

After his death, she devoted herself to preserving his architectural work. Together with Heinrich Klotz , the then director of the German Architecture Museum, she set up the Erich Schelling Architecture Foundation in 1992 to promote architectural history and theory . Since then, it has awarded the Erich Schelling Architecture Prize every two years .

Shortly before her death, she handed over her husband's estate to the German Architecture Museum. She left part of her large art collection to the Badisches Landesmuseum .
