history
The community was mentioned for the first time in the Liber beneficiorum dioecesis Cracoviensis of the historian and geographer Jan Długosz and later in a document from the province of Kraków from 1564. A wooden church from the early 18th century still exists today.
Due to the nearby iron ore deposits, a mining industry and metallurgy quickly developed in the region . Preserved iron crosses from the early 19th century in a city cemetery testify to the skills of the locals. In the 19th century a factory for tablespoons was also established.
