Tschajkyne ( Ukrainian Чайкине ; Russian Чайкино Tschaikino ) is a village in the north of Ukraine with about 300 inhabitants (2004).

The village, founded in 1750, is the administrative center of the Tschajkyne district municipality in the north of Novhorod-Siverskyj Rajon in Chernihiv Oblast . The village is located 35 km north-west of the Novhorod-Siverskyi district center and about 200 km north-east of the Oblast capital Chernihiv .

The district council with an area of ​​64.37 km² also includes the villages:

  • Assuky ( Аршуки ) with about 20 inhabitants
  • Karabany ( Калинівське ) with about 150 inhabitants
  • Poljuschkyne ( Полюшкине ) with about 140 inhabitants and
  • Jasne ( Ясне ) with about 40 inhabitants

Personalities

In 1936 the former Prime Minister and President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma was born in the village .
