Tshemönling

Tshemönling ( Tib.Tshe smon gling ) is a monastery of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism in Lhasa . It was one of the four temples of regency ( gling bzhi ) Lhasa and was built in the 17th century after the 5th Dalai Lama took over both spiritual and secular power. The monastery produced three rulers who also included Ganden Thripa , d. H. the nominal head of the Gelug school were: The first was Ngawang Tshälthrim (1721–1791; r. 1777–1780), the second Ngawang Jampel Tshälthrim Gyatsho (1792– ?; r. 1818–1844) and the third Ngawang Lobsang Tenpe Gyeltshen (1844-1919; ruled 1910-1912). After 1912 it was the seat of the Demo Hutuktu (see Tendzin Gyatsho ).
