The Tujunga Wash is a river in Los Angeles County , California . The Tujunga Wash is created by the confluence of the Big Tujunga Creek , which flows in an east-west direction from the San Gabriel Mountains , and the Little Tujunga Wash , which flows in from the north from the San Gabriel Mountains . The confluence is just before the Tujunga Wash flows into the Hansen Dam basin in the north of the San Fernando Valley . From the dam, the Tujunga Wash flows mostly south through the San Fernando Valley before flowing into the Los Angeles River in Studio City . The most important tributary is the Pacoima Wash .

Between Vanowen Street and Oxnard Street, Tujunga Wash has been renatured and provided with a hiking trail, the Tujunga Wash Greenway. To the south is the Great Wall of Los Angeles , an approximately 800 m long mural that is applied to the concrete wall of the Tujunga Wash flood basin. Shortly before the confluence in Studio City, the Tujunga Wash borders the Moorpark Park .

The name Tujunga is derived from the name of a Tongva settlement . In this Indian language, Tuhuunga means "place of the old woman".
