The Pacoima Wash is an approximately 53 km (33 mi ) long river in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County , California . The Pacoima Wash is a tributary of the Tujunga Wash , which in turn flows into the Los Angeles River .
The river has its source at Mount Gleason in the western San Gabriel Mountains . As Pacoima Creek it flows through the Pacaimo Canyon to the Pacoima Dam . From here it flows through Sylmar , San Fernando , Pacoima , Mission Hills , Panorama City , and Van Nuys . From the dam , the river flows into a concrete basin for flood protection.
