The small star tulip ( Tulipa dasystemon ) is a species of tulip ( Tulipa ) in the lily family (Liliaceae).

features

The small star tulip is a perennial bulb plant that reaches heights of 10 to 20 centimeters. The onion skin is membranous. The 2 leaves are apart. The lower one measures 8 to 12 × 0.5 to 1.5 centimeters. The flowers are single, yellow and 3 to 6 centimeters in diameter. The outer bracts are 0.4 centimeters wide and have brown-green stripes on the underside. The inner ones are approximately 0.7 inches wide.

Flowering time is from May to June.

Occurrence

The small star tulip occurs in west and east Tian Shan as well as in west Pamir on fine earth , stony slopes and on subalpine Festuca steppes at altitudes of 2,400 to 3,600 meters.

It is not known whether the Little Star Tulip is in cultivation. The Tarda tulip ( Tulipa tarda ) is often falsely cultivated under the name Tulipa dasystemon .
