The Tarda tulip ( Tulipa tarda ), also known as the star tulip , is a species of tulip ( Tulipa ) in the lily family (Liliaceae).
features
The Tarda tulip is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 5 to 15 centimeters. This geophyte forms onions as persistent organs. It multiplies strongly through runners. The three to seven leaves are more or less spread out on the ground, pure green in color, shiny, runny and measure 10 to 12 × 1.2 to 2 centimeters.
Three to six flowers stand on a stem . The flowers have a diameter of 5 to 7 centimeters and spread out in a star shape in the sun. The bracts are either yellow with a white tip or completely yellow in color and, unlike the Turkestan tulip, have no basal spot on their base. The outer bracts have a green central stripe on their underside, are purple and measure 3 to 4 × about 1.3 centimeters, while the inner ones are about 1.7 centimeters wide. The flowering time is between the beginning of April and the beginning of May, depending on the weather.
Occurrence

use
The Tarda tulip is used as an ornamental plant in rock gardens and border borders. It has been in culture since 1905 at the latest. She needs a lot of sun.
