history

Berler von Tullau family coat of arms from Siebmacher's heraldic book

Tullau was first mentioned as Tullouwe in 1090 . Another historical form of the name was Tullauwe , under which the place was mentioned in 1248. The place name is derived from Tulle (i.e. Dalle, indented depression). For many years the place belonged to the fiefdom of the Comburg monastery and the von Tullau family, a branch of the Berler city aristocratic family in Hall, who called themselves Berler von Tullau here . Parts of Tullaus were sold to the hospital in Hall . A contract from 1557 stipulated that Hall would be responsible for the administration . As a result of the subordination, Tullau came to the Duchy of Württemberg in 1802/03 and remained an independent municipality until 1843. In 1843 it was connected to Uttenhofen . In 1972, as part of the community reform in Baden-Württemberg, the merger with Uttenhofen and other communities to form the newly created community of Rosengarten.

With 308 inhabitants, Tullau is one of the smaller districts of Rosengarten.
