The Tumminge von Domeneck were a medieval noble family with ancestral seat at Domeneck Castle near Züttlingen .

history

The origin of the family and the meaning of the nickname Tumming (also Thümig , Dumming , Dumin and similar spellings) are unknown, but the nickname seems to go back to the same root word as the name of the ancestral seat Domeneck , possibly to the place Thuna on Möckmühler Markung mentioned in 846 .

The Tumminge von Domeneck were first mentioned with a Heinrich in 1270 in the documents of the Seligental monastery . They were followers of the Lords of the vineyard and were of these with its headquarters in Züttlingen as well as other goods in Siglingen , Oberkessach , tree Erlenbach and other places invested . In 1415 Friedrich Tumyng sold his stake in Baumerlenbach to Hohenlohe . In 1418 he sold his farm in Hagenbach and his part of Korb to Götz von Berlichingen, who gave Friedrich a right of use for the farm in Hagenbach for life. After Poppo von Domeneck's death around 1420, most of his possessions, including the headquarters at Domeneck Castle, went to Engelhard von Berlichingen , who was married to Poppo's sister. The last of the family was the Bishop of Worms Friedrich von Domeneck , with whose death on May 1, 1445 the family went out.
