The tundra red-toothed shrew ( Sorex tundrensis ) is a species from the genus of the red -toothed shrew . It is one of the few species of this genus that belong to both the Palearctic and the Nearctic. Their distribution area extends from Siberia east of the Pechora river to the northeast coast of Asia. However, it is missing on Kamchatka . Their North American distribution area extends from the Aleutian Islands , western, central and northern Alaska to the northern area of ​​the Yukon River . Their habitat is the tundric steppe. Because of this northern habitat, it is one of the few insectivores in thearctic fauna .

In its appearance it is very similar to the Portenko red-toothed shrew , but its occurrence is limited to the Palearctic. Like this one, she has a brown torso. Their flanks, however, are yellow-brown in color. The underside of the body is gray. However, it tends to be a bit larger and heavier. Their body length including tail is between 80 and 120 millimeters. Their weight is between 5 and 10 grams.
