tunespoon was a project initiated by students at Furtwangen University in 2003, which offered music videos free of charge via internet stream . tunespoon described itself as online music television and was presented by the initiators as an alternative to the commercial music television stations VIVA and MTV . Tunespoon has been offline since spring 2008.

philosophy

The aim of the project was to offer bands and their music videos a platform for the presentation of their music videos regardless of their musical orientation. This should also give unknown artists the chance for their videos to be seen by a music-loving community, thus promoting the diversity of music video culture in Europe.

technology

The front-end and back-end of tunespoon were completely in-house developments by students from the Furtwangen University , Faculty of Digital Media. As a streaming server came Microsoft Media Server used that the live video stream over the MMS protocol set available. For foreseeable load peaks (e.g. after press releases, press reports, interviews, etc.), remote cache / proxy or relay servers from cooperation partners could be used.

design

Both the corporate design and the web design of tunespoon were created by students of the Furtwangen University , Faculty of Digital Media. The design was nominated in 2007 for the design award of the Federal Republic of Germany .
