Tuomo Mannermaa (born September 29, 1937 in Oulu , † January 19, 2015 in Espoo ) was a Finnish Lutheran theologian. From 1980 until his retirement he was Professor of Ecumenical Theology at the University of Helsinki .

Mannermaa became known for his criticism of the Leuenberg Agreement and for his contributions to the dialogue with the Orthodox Church. With his students (including Simo Peura , Risto Saarinen , Antti Raunio ) he founded the so-called new Finnish Luther School, which brought Luther's understanding of justification into a close relationship with the orthodox understanding of " theosis " (deification).
