Beach and border crossing in the background

The church on a small hill in the center of the village is dedicated to St. Pandeleimon .

Until 2015 Tushemisht belonged to the municipality ( komuna ) Buçimas , which was then merged with the Bashkia  Pogradec.

The Albanian film Zonja nga qyteti (The Dames from the City) was shot in Tushemisht . A statue in the center of the village, which shows the main character Teto Ollga, played by Violeta Manushi , is reminiscent of the filming of the mid-1970s. The comedy made the village known throughout Albania.
