The Tutshi Lake is a lake in the far northwest of the Canadian province of British Columbia . The border with the Yukon Territory runs 5 km north of the lake.

The 5583 hectare Tutshi Lake is located in the Skagway Ranges belonging to the Coast Mountains at an altitude of 707  m , framed by several 2000 m high mountains. The lake is located 30 km south of Carcross and 50 km northeast of Skagway . The elongated lake leads north from the southern end of the lake and turns east after about 13 km. It has a total length of 35 km and an average width of 1.5 km. The 8 km long Tutshi River drains the lake at its eastern end to the eastern Taku arm of Tagish Lake . The Klondike Highway from Skagway to Carcross runs 10 km along the west bank of the lake.

The lake has a catchment area of ​​989 km². The mean discharge of the Tutshi River when it leaves the lake is 16 m³ / s.

Tutshi Lake is a cold, oligotrophic body of water. The water is clear with few nutrients and high oxygen content. Tutshi Lake is located in a lake region with Bennett Lake , Tagish Lake and Atlin Lake in the vicinity. The lake extends over two biogeoclimatic zones: the southwestern part is in the Boreal White and Black Spruce Zone (with white and black spruce ), the northeast part in the Spruce-Willow-Birch Zone (with spruce , willow and birch ).
