Gameplay
General
The concept of Twisted Metal 4 is largely identical to that of its predecessors. It combines elements of racing games with those of third-person shooters . The player controls a vehicle in a cordoned-off area, which is armed with machine guns with infinite ammunition. In this area he competes against up to eight also armed vehicles and tries to destroy them.
Race course
At the beginning of a game, the participating vehicles are positioned at random starting positions on the map at a certain minimum distance from one another. After the start signal, the vehicles can drive freely through the area and hunt down their opponents.
Since the machine guns cause relatively little damage, the drivers are dependent on additional weapons that are distributed along the route and can be picked up by any player. Additional weapons include a. Grenades , napalm and missiles . It is the same with repair kits that help remove these damage. Each vehicle has an individual weapon, the stock of which regenerates automatically over time.
