Two Mile Farm is a 68 acres (27.5 hectare ) nature reserve near the city of Marshfield in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It is managed by The Trustees of Reservations organization.
Protected area
The eponymous former farm was founded in 1640 by the Hatch family and got its name from the rights granted to it by the city of Scituate . These allowed the family to harvest silt grasses ( spartina patens ) "in an area 2 miles along the river and half a mile inland on either side" . There is an approximately 1 mi (1.6 km ) loop trail through Weymouth pine forests , past old stone walls and along former cart paths. The current flowing through the reserve North River was from the United States Department of the Interior as a National Natural Landmark and the state of Massachusetts as a Scenic River reported.
