Ryszard Waldemar "Tymon" Tymański (born September 30, 1968 in Danzig ) is a Polish musician (double bass, electric bass, guitar, vocals), performer, composer.

Live and act

Tymański first appeared in the mid-1980s as a writer and actor in experimental theater plays. He learned the guitar as a child and later switched to the electric bass. With a school friend he formed the band The Howling Dogs .

In 1983 he founded Sni Sredstvom za Uklanianie, then a post-punk / new wave band. In 1986 he began studying English at the University of Gdansk and joined the well-known Gdansk performance group Totart. Two years later, Sni Sredstvom Miłość emerged, the most important band on the Yass scene. Tymański is considered to be the inventor of the term yass . In 1992 he founded his second important band, Kury, with which he was awarded a Fryderyk in 1998 . After the breakup of the yass scene, Tymański devoted himself increasingly to simpler forms of rock, especially with his band Tymon & the Transistors.

Other bands from Tymańskis were Tymon i Trupy, Czan, NRD, The Users, Masło, Tymański Yass Ensemble. He also moderated two television programs ( Dzyndzylyndzy and Brzóska Show ) in the 1990s . In 2001 his book was published (together with Zbigniew Sajnóg) Chłopi 3 . In the same year he was awarded a Paszport Polityki for complete works. He was awarded an Orzeł for his soundtrack to Wojciech Smarzowski's film Wesele . In 2013 his autobiography ADHD was published .

Tymański is a Buddhist . His works often contain references to Zen Buddhism.

He was a co-owner of the music label Biodro Records.
