The Type 055 (after NATO reporting name as Renhai class called) is a class of six guided missile destroyers of the Navy of the People's Republic of China .

General

The Type 055 is a further development of the previous destroyer class ( Type 052D , also known as the Luyang III class ), and is intended to supplement it in part in service.

Hull and drive

The hull of a Type 055 destroyer is 180 meters long, 20 meters wide and has a draft of 6.6 meters with a maximum displacement of more than 12,000 tons . It is driven by four main and six additional gas turbines ( COGAG drive ). The power is delivered to two shafts with one screw each . The top speed is 30 knots (56 km / h ).

Armament

The armament consists of a 130 mm gun, two vertical launch systems with 48 and 64 cells each. This can accommodate cruise missiles , anti-ship missiles and anti-submarine missiles . In addition, a tube-based 30 mm short-range defense system H / PJ-11 in front of the bridge and a launcher for twenty-four HQ10 short-range anti-aircraft missiles in the rear of the ship. There are also four 726-4 decoys with 18 tubes each. A Harbin Z-9C or Z-18F helicopter is carried for submarine hunting and other tasks .
