The Type 052D (after the lead ship and Kunming class or after NATO reporting name as Luyang-III class called) is a class of previously twenty missile destroyers of the Navy of the People's Republic of China .
General
The Type 052D is a further development of the previous Type 052C (Luyang II class) and partially replaces the destroyers of the Type 051 (Luda class) in service.

Hull and drive
The hull of a destroyer of the Type 052D is 155 meters long, 18 meters wide and has a draft of 6.5 meters with a maximum displacement of 7,500 tons . It is propelled by two gas turbines and two marine diesel engines ( COGOG propulsion ). The power is delivered to two shafts with one screw each . The top speed is 30 knots (56 km / h ).
Armament
The armament consists of a 130 mm gun, two vertical launch systems with 32 cells each. This can accommodate cruise missiles , anti-ship missiles and anti-submarine missiles . In addition, two triple torpedo tubes of the type 2424B for Yu-7 torpedoes, a tube-based 30 mm close-range defense system in front of the bridge and a starter for twenty-four HQ10 short-range anti-aircraft missiles on the hangar roof. A Harbin Z-9C or a Kamow Ka-28 helicopter is carried for submarine hunting and other tasks .
